Small-Town Sunday

We love going to Edison (population of 133 at the 2010 census), and an oyster party at Slough Foods made it even more appealing. Settling into our seats at Slough Foods, we enjoyed a small plate of interesting cheeses and generous glasses of a fine 2015 New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (Jules Taylor) while anticipating our local Samish Pacific oysters, grilled and enhanced with several special toppings, such as a delicious herb butter or finely chopped fresh apple, fennel, and Serrano ham.

Raw regional Shigokus and Kumamatos were also available, but we were well content with our grilled ones, balanced with slices of Breadfarm baguette and local butter. Breadfarm is conveniently located next to Slough Food, so we knew the bread couldn't be fresher!

No visit to Edison is complete without seeing the latest art exhibit at Smith & Vallee, and it was from there that I took this blip, looking out through the raindrops. If you'd like to see the Edward R. Murrow quotation more clearly, check it out on ArtistAnnie's March 8 blip. (Murrow was a well-respected broadcast journalist who grew up in this area. His broadcasts from London during World War II were remarkable.)

We brought home with us a bottle of that fine white wine and some goodies from Breadfarm, as well as the contentment that comes from the pace of a small town Sunday afternoon.

That pace has picked up, however, and as noted in my previous blip, I won't be posting or commenting as often for a while, although I'll still sprinkle stars and hearts -- that's irresistible!
