Frog Friday

It was a bright and sunny start the holiday weekend.  We headed off to meet friends at Vogrie Country Park.  The boys had a great time running through the woods, playing in the park and playing football.  Just as we were about to head back to the car, BB fell and hurt himself.  Our friends headed off, but we headed into Vogrie House to clean BB up.  We then had a last look at the frogs in the pond, and then BB had a last kick of his football, which bounced off a tree and rebounded into the frog pond!  It was the end of the world for him, but there was no way we could get it back.  A kind man tried, but failed, to retrieve it for him.  He was heartbroken (BB, not the man).  The breeze was blowing it across the pond and we hung around to see if it was getting any closer to side, but it wasn’t.  We had to leave it.  Poor BB sobbed a good lot of the way home. Who knew you could be so attached to a football.

We had a quiet afternoon, but managed a short river walk, where BB tried out the new, and much criticised, fitness trail that has been installed around the river walk.  He did what I expect all children will do – swung on the railings.

Once TT was home, BB shared the story of the football with him.  TT asked why I hadn’t waded in to get it!

There was a lot of frog activity in the pond at Vogrie (see extra).  The other extra shows the last known sighting of the football.
