Impressionist

I have to confess that this was actually an accidental exposure, but I prefer it to all the deliberate exposures I made today. There is a feeling of movement and a definite focus where the white bands almost meet in the middle.  It also fits in with the Abstract Thursday challenge currently hosted by youoregon1.

It was taken from the top of the escalator through the earth at the Natural History Museum in London. We were there to enjoy the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition (we have been intending to visit for months, but have only just got around to it).

The exhibition was stunning, as always.  The photographs are extra-ordinary, amazing captures of animals, fish, birds etc, showing their behaviour and lifestyles and frequently showing the impact of climate change and human activities on them.  But, in addition, so many of the photographs are just  beautiful images - regardless of the subject matter: outstanding compositions, fabulous landscapes, incredible patterns - and excellent camera techniques, of course.  The presentation of the images at the Natural History Museum is excellent too.  The large photographs are backlit, mounted on black display panels in a darkened room, which makes the images leap out.  The ambience is helped by low level, mysterious, moody music.  As usual, a thoroughly recommended experience.
