Alone

This lonely seat
I've noticed oft,
It sits alone to wait
While leaves and winds
Do drift and waft
It knows not what its fate.

And lovers sit there
Oft entwined
Sweet nothings they do tell
And some do ill
And others kind
And in between as well.

This lonely seat
If it could talk
Great stories it would share
Of those who run
Of those who walk
O'er here and everywhere.

And as the sun
Does go to sleep
The seat it there does stay
For it can't leave
Watch it must keep
All night and all the day.

Night all.
