Brushstrokes

I found a bunch of parrot tulips in the supermarket yesterday, while I'm waiting for the pastel ones these vibrant red, yellow and purple ones will have to do ;-) isn't their pattern like that of a broad dry paintbrush, they're just so unbelievably colourful !

We've got new back neighbours at the house in Holland and they've been working on the inside for weeks, but now they've started working on their garden. To my utter horror they are cutting down all the trees in their garden and have informed us they are planning to take down all branches from any tree of ours hanging over their garden , plus they would like to cut down one of ours so that they can build a wall around their garden and this tree has roots into their garden which would hinder that plan. The chainsaw sounds cut into my territorial and nature-loving soul ! I see birds getting very confused too ! Arrgghh. There's no law in this town saying that you need a permit to cut down trees, unless they're on a list of precious trees, and obviously anyone is free to do what they want with their garden. But how anyone can cut down fifty years old trees .....

Thanks very much for your kind comments on yesterday's magnolia in the mist. All the fallen petals were gathered and cleared this morning but this afternoon the lawn is covered in pink petals again ;-)
