Once A Police Station

Last day of our holiday today.  TT was up and out hill running, I was up tidying and packing, and BB was playing Minecraft.  We had a lovely drive home wending our way through the borders countryside.  It was looking very spring like, with lots of sheep and lambs, green patchwork fields and a lovely blue sky.  Our first stop was Wooler.  Many years ago we walked the St Cuthbert’s Way and spent a night in Wooler, which we recalled.  After a wander round, we then headed through Kirk Yetholm (another night was spent there on the St Cuthbert’s Way), before stopping off in Kelso for some lunch.  We were warned off the first café we went into, by a couple who were not happy with the slow service.  We left, almost as soon as we went in!  We then found a nice café, with lovely food, the best hot chocolate ever (BB’s words), and very friendly staff.  After a bit more wandering, and the purchase of a book for BB, we were back in the car to head for home.

The house was (and still is) freezing, and doesn’t seem to be warming up very quickly.  My anemones are still looking beautiful.  I thought they would be dead by now, but the cold house must have made them last a bit longer.  It’s always nice to get home, but I do hate all the unpacking, washing to be done, and the putting away that needs to be done.  Tomorrow we will have to start thinking about the week ahead - work and school.

I liked this old police sign in Wooler - there was a sign in the window informing us that the police station has been relocated.
