The Observatory

I'm up on Mt John tonight, staying at the University of Canterbury Observatory at Lake Tekapo.

After a beautiful day the clouds started to roll in tonight, but as you can see at least they obscured the bright moonlight.

I was hoping to sneak out once the moon has set to take some shots of the Milky Way over the buildings here, but I think the cloud has set in. What a shame.

I will however be back here in two weeks for another photography session with the UC Alumni. Keep your fingers crossed for better weather....

I shot this with my Samyang 8mm fisheye lens, then corrected the distortion in Photoshop. Processing via Nik Color Efex to bring out the moonlight hues.
