But, then again . . . . .

Living in the Past.

Many years ago, much of my life was spent sitting cross-legged on the floor helping Jnr assemble Lego kits. After a short while of losing parts on the carpet, I acquired a blue plastic tarpaulin which meant that we could collect up the partially assembled bits and pick up the four corners of the sheet and set everything on one side until we could finish. It didn’t solve the back ache problems but we stopped losing small pieces. It was during Jnr’s Lego years that the Technic range became popular  and increased the possibilities of constructing  more complicated models; we climaxed with a rather large racing car having an “engine” with moving pistons and a working gear-box. I remember it being rather fragile and needing continual repair work. Over twenty years later it lies partially dis-assembled in a box in the loft.

On a more important front, much of the day was spent working on an application for a new projector from the Neighbourhood Cinema Equipment Fund. Fortunately we have some helpers with experience of form filling, I’m glad that was never part of my working life. I don’t know the size of the funds they have available but the offer has turned up at just the right time for us. We have a substitute for the machine that went “BANG” a month ago, but it is on a free loan from a very generous soul and we don’t want to abuse the privilege.
