Nicky and her Nikon

Someone has been to the doggy parlour

...and looks so much neater and smells clean too. I had to take a photo of him looking so handsome! If you look very carefully you will see a faint, pinkish smudge between his eyebrows - that is where I planted a kiss while wearing red lipstick, and it won't come off! I must write to Clinique and tell them that their Pop Lip Colour range truly is long lasting!

The play we saw last night, The Caretaker, was absolutely brilliant. So good to see such accomplished acting from all three cast members, every one of them could  be up for an award after that performance. The 3 hour show (yes, there was a groan from Gavin when he heard it was 3 hours long!) did not seem long at all as the fine script from Harold Pinter just flowed along effortlessly. The first scene that George Mackay is on stage where he rattles off his speech at such a furious speed is like nothing I have ever witnessed before, it was astounding.

Two more days until Gavin runs in the London Marathon, his 40th marathon and he tells me his last one which I don't believe. He and two colleagues from his office have raised £10 000 for Gavin's favourite charity, Whizz Kidz, which helps mobilise disabled children. Every year he runs to raise money for that charity, and that is what is so fantastic about the London Marathon, because if you don't get a place through the ballot you have to enter by raising money for a charity.

Tim Peake, our British astronaught who is currently in space, is also running the London Marathon but while orbiting the earth. He will be tied down to a treadmill by bungee cords using an iPad to virtually run through the streets of London. Due to gravity conditions his legs only have to carry 75% of his body weight, making his steps lighter and his muscle recovery much easier at the end of the marathon. How amazing is that?
