A Day Worth Recording

Obligatory Copenhagen 2

Nyhavn (New Haven). A collection of pretty coloured old buildings and old wooden boats almost, but not entirely, untypical of Copenhagen; but it is the image on all the tourist brochures.

Essentially the result of gentrifying (or, at least, cafefying) the area in the 1960's for tourism purposes.

A glorious day weather wise - the sky really was that blue.  Spent the middle of the day on a walking tour which was entertaining and informative, if probably wildly inaccurate.

Apparently, Copenhagen burns to the ground regularly.  Indeed, given the amount of construction work currently clogging up the streets, they don't seem to have finished rebuilding it since the last time (in 1795).

Spent the evening in Tivoli, the second oldest theme park in the world apparently.  It was just us as M had flown back and J was madly animating and/or writing an essay, to meet a deadline.  M and J had enjoyed the rides at the weekend; we just enjoyed keeping our feet on the ground; where they're supposed to be.  Listened lazily to a Swedish jazz band and enjoyed the lights as the night came on.
