Anniversary Weekend in Lincoln

Today we celebrate 27 years of wedded bliss. Jon said he has been happily married for 20 years....just isn't saying which 20 of the last 27 were the happy ones!

We woke at the usual time, as Henry had school. After showering, packing our bags, walking the dogs & putting the eggs back under the hen that she'd pushed out (no change there then) we got on the road.

We had planned a trip to Lincoln. We have never visited this relatively close city before, and it had been recommended by an old Cambridge colleague. So with a room in the Holiday Inn Express booked, we decided we could do it on a budget.

After dropping in to King's Lynn for a coffee on our way we arrived in Lincoln at 2. Unpacked and settled, and after a quick cup of tea, we headed towards the town. By the river, full of eating places, we grabbed a late lunch. From there we took a path which ran along the river where I spotted something I had read about; the oldest inhabited bridge in Britain. I took pictures, but not with my phone, so you cant see them! Heading up the high street in the direction of the cathedral, castle and historical area, we climbed the infamous 'Steep Hill' - a steep hill which is full of beautiful old buildings. The plan is to start there tomorrow and perhaps visit the castle. This photo is Steep Hill.

Back at the hotel we are chilling. Star Trek on tv, a bottle of wine and a good book....and my husband! So far, so good!
