DERELICT BALLOON

My contribution for the derelict sunday challenge, hosted by Marlieske.
We started our travel day not as early as other times, and our train connections were in Amersfoort, Rheine and Hamm.
Before we arrived in Hamm there was a message from the Deutsche Bahn that our train in Hamm had been cancelled because of an accident.
We found a later train, but this one reached only Lippstadt and from there we had to wait for a bus that would bring us to Paderborn.
A dutch young woman had joined us in the meantime, her grandparents awaited her at the station of Paderborn. They had moved to this town and now she would for the first time stay with them for a forthnight,
Of course the situation was chaotic, we walked from one spot to another and back again.
But the bus arrived in the end, and in Paderborn we had time to drink a warm tea, and buys chips in the MacDonalds.
Our last train brought us to our destination!!
Tired as we were we walked uphill and were glad to open the door of our home.
No catching up today, but tomorrow I'll be here again.
My thoughts go now to the poor soul who saw no alternative than finding a terrible end in that accident and to the machinist who could do nothing to avoid this sad event.

My haiku:

There I lie tired and
Forgotten nobody I
Will cheer up again

And the proverb:

Grey and green make the worst medley.
