If you can't beat them...

Thirlmere.

It isn't often (if ever) that I post a B & W blip, so I felt it was time for a change!  I will apologise now as the rest of this post is likely to descend into a rant!

This afternoon we decided it was a long time since we visited Thirlmere so that is where we headed.  Our first stop was intended to be at a little car park at the NW corner of the Lake, so that we could go down the path to the shore.  As we drove up I thought "funny no other cars in the park" but there were 2 on the road side.  The reason was the gates to the park were locked.  OK we found space on the road side.  The gate on the path down to the shore was locked as there was damage from Storm Desmond.  OK fair enough but why lock the car park, not to mention the fact Desmond was 6 months ago the path can't have been so badly damaged it is only about 50 yards long .

We proceeded after taking some shots from the roadside (this being one) and the next thing was the car park with the public toilets in was also locked!  The businesses of the Lake District are desperately trying to recover from the floods and trying to put out the message "The Lake District is open" and United Utilities lock car parks and close off public toilets!  I can understand closing a damaged path but why prevent visitors from using the car parks.

I despair!
