Annual maintenance

[Back blipping this on 3.6.16]

Don't really know where to start here... Blip has been the last thing on my mind this last week!

The day started well enough. I had the annual service of the living room a/c scheduled for 8:30 in the morning. The man called to say could he come early - like 8. Er, no! We settled for 8:15 I think. So, the purpose of this picture is really to record the date when this was done - for next year! He seemed to be more thorough this year, as he appeared down the corridor with a part I'd never seen before (the blower) and asked if he could wash it indoors, in the shower, rather than on the balcony.

All done in an hour and G and I decided to head to the cinema (first time in AGES) to watch - The Jungle Book! (And really, because this was the only movie of interest, at a convenient time in a cinema nearby). All fine there. The new movie is much darker than the first. Neither of us were really sure if we liked it.

On to the next thing - which was to do the [boring] weekly shop. Been avoiding it all month, and thought it was time. Headed to Carrefour - our usual - and I really should have picked up on how tired G was, as difficulty finding a parking space made her say - let's just go home and shop in the hypermarket close to us. A space suddenly appeared, so up we went.

Should have listened closer again; G said "something isn't right" but couldn't really elaborate. Think we were 5 minutes in, actually hurriedly heading to an exit for her to have a sit down, when she had a seizure! First time ever for her. For me too, to witness one in real life! I had little idea what to do, except with the help of a fellow shopper, we managed to get her on the floor without her injuring herself, and waited for an ambulance.

Long story short; got to the nearest A&E (which also happens to be the best one in town). G travelled in an ambulance on code yellow (lights flashing and the horn going to ask people to get out of the way) but has absolutely no recollection of it. Nothing is affected (movement, speech) and everything else is normal too. The extra shows her having her first CT scan which showed a lesion; so another one was ordered - with contrast. There were numerous blood tests done. Think she was there over 6 hours and they would have liked to have kept her overnight, except you don't really get any rest in a hospital, and she was hungry, not having eaten anything since the popcorn during the film!

I was really fortunate that Pauline came when I phoned, as well as my friend Farzan. Pauline (being a staff nurse) was able to get info from the doctors as to what was going on. [They said very little to me in the initial stages.]

Was glad to be home around 10:30. G more than me, as after a small incident of being sick (from the drug they gave her just before she left), she actually slept very well, undisturbed, all through the night!

WHAT A DAY.
