Small Waves at Westport

or ... Two walks, Small Waves at Westport, Paddling, Alpacas, and a Sighting of Llamas.  (this was my full title, but not enough space in the Blipfoto title box)

18.2C and bright with cloud most of the day. Some intervals of direct sun. Light Easterly breeze in the morning, then Westerly in the afternoon.

Apothecary7's has a week's holiday.

This morning we had a wander along the road, stopping off at one of the Boot's shops to let some of the staff meet Maeve the Deerhound, then we carried on out the road along the South of Campbeltown loch using the route Maeve and I like to take through the little narrow park by the seafront to the grassy area before the cemetery. There is a well weathered notice at the end which says "Marie Curie Field of Hope". We had a seat at a bench and Maeve lay down on the grass.

We came back along through town then got in my car and went to Westport beach and had a long walk along the sand towards Machrihanish. The sea was calm but there were some nice small waves breaking on the shore. Maeve was off her lead and at one point actually went in for a paddle. We met a few people and Maeve met two more dogs. It is definitely a beach for meeting other dogs.

We went on to Glenbarr for lunch, stopping on the way for eggs and shortbread pigs at the farm stall at Bellochantuy, then we bought two lavender plants and a large bag of compost in the garden centre. By one of the greenhouses there was a pen with two Alpacas from North Beachmore Farm where they do trekking in the summer apparently. By coincidence as we were approaching Bellochantuy on the way back South to Campbeltown there was a line of Llamas on the horizon of the hillside to the left of the road. We often see one or two, but today their silhouettes lined the top of the hill.

Back home we cleared some big decorative pots which had primroses, which I planted out in a shady corner of the garden with plenty of fresh compost. The lavenders went into two of the pots that the primroses came out of. They will grow on in the pots until I clear the space where we want them in the garden.

Later we went along the road to get ice cream from one of the local shops which makes the good old fashioned type of ice cream. I had a notion to have it with some cake from the local bakery this evening.
