Abstract Thursday - "The Big Picture"

Youoregon1 (thanks once more Robert!) has set the theme "The Big Picture" for this week's Abstract Thursday blips.

Well, today MrsC & I were in Tynemouth scouting out a suitable eating place to go with some friends from the States who are coming to visit in several days' time. MrsC lived up to her "Editor" role perfectly by suggesting that I photograph part of the large expanse of the concourse at Tynemouth Metro Station to meet today's blip challenge. This rather grand station was opened in 1882 as part of the North Eastern Railway and then was subsequently part of the British Rail network. It was adopted for use by the Tyne & Wear Metro system which began services there in 1980, and was refurbished very nicely in 2012. It's a Grade II listed building.

So this is the result - after being suitably mauled in Photoshop and Lightroom. The sun was shining brightly through the extensive roof windows, hence the abstract shadows on the floor.
