Life's Little Moments

Just ducky

I adore wood ducks but don't usually ever get close enough for decent shots. So today when we found not one, but many accommodating wood ducks at the Rhododendron Gardens I was in heaven! We've never seen so many there as we did today - males, females, nearly adult juveniles and two very tiny ducklings. This shot was taken from a distance of about 12 feet and slightly cropped. As you can see, he is in his prime in terms of plumage. This wasn't the case with some of the others who were fairly far along with their moults.

A bonus was coming across a wedding party who were having photos done - I couldn't resist sneaking a few shots and will put one in Extra. After that we enjoyed a delicious lunch, found a geo-cache and headed home. It's raining at a pretty good clip now so we are just hanging out at home.

Meeting up tomorrow morning with three blip-friends which should be great fun! Looks like it may be a bit chilly and perhaps a shower, but I'm sure we'll still have a great time. Hard to believe my trip is already coming to an end. Next week by this time, I'll be in FL with Mr and Mrs Sefferdog. No moss growing under these feet!

Thanks for stopping by, and thank you for all the love on yesterday's swallows.

Cheers
Debbi
