Grand in Leeds

Went with our neighbour's into Leeds this afternoon.
We hadn't realised that the world triathlon championships were taking place with our very own (Yorkshire) Brownlee brothers taking part. Apparently it should have been in London but something else was happening there!

We didn't see any direct action but as we arrived in the city centre they had a big screen up as they did for the Grand Depart and we were just in time to see Alistair coming out of the water at Roundhay Park and taking to his bike.

We went for a meal nearby and came out just in time to see Alistair again running up the finishing straight to win to great applause from the crowd and even more cheers as Jonny came up in second place.

This wasn't the purpose of our outing though which was to see the Proclaimers in concert at Leeds Grand Theatre. What a fantastic show. I rarely go to see a live music performance other than theatre and this was an early birthday treat for me. It was a coincidence that our neighbours had booked it too so that made it an even more social occasion.

Photography didn't seem to be an issue and by the end of the show everyone was up dancing and clapping. I think they were singing 'Sunshine on Leith' here just before everyone got to their feet.
Fabulous evening and well done to the amazing Brownlee brothers.
