A present, and just what I wanted... although in some ways I'm lucky to have it at all.

I phoned S to reply to his question as to what days I was free for climbing, but what he wanted to speak to me about was why I'd put one of his slings in my pack and put mine (his old, heavier, cast-off) into his pack, a fact that he didn't discover until he was on Arran.  I didn't know why or how but refused to take all the responsibility, and from there it spiralled downwards a bit on both sides.  I ended it by cutting him off saying I was bringing the sling round to his right now.

He didn't think I was coming, but I'd said I was going to so I did... but it was all ok when I got there.  We swapped slings and he gave me this nut tool, which is great as I always worry that I'm going to drop mine mid-climb.

We agreed that we are both really bloody-minded and stubborn as hell! No wonder we couldn't make it work.
