If you can't beat them...

Common Damselfly.

Well that is what I identify it as I make it a male as well.  If anyone knows better I would be pleased to know.

A busy morning and then at lunch time Clickychick suggested she needed to go to visit somebody to see if she could borrow some musical instruments for some photography she has next Monday.  It seemed a good excuse for a run out so off we went.  We were kindly loaned a Autoharp (Zither) and a small antique accordion.  Sadly he didn't have a Violin which was one instrument she really wanted.

Having got out of town it seemed a shame to waste what was turning into a glorious afternoon - sunny and hot.  We decided to go for a coffee to Larch Cottage.  I am never sure whether it should be called a garden centre, nursery, cafe or just gardens.  It is nothing like any other garden centre you wander seamlessly from garden to stock areas interspersed with statuary and garden ornaments.

The cafe looks out on to the pond and has a lovely little bridge over the pond.  Standing on the bridge we could see masses of Damselflies and unusually they sometimes sat still enough for me to get a shot!
