Island Life (2)

Today’s main event was taking a boat out to Staffa - an uninhabited island about an hour north of Iona.

It’s famous for Fingal’s Cave, so it got Blipped. I hadn’t realised you can walk around the cliffs and get inside the cave. A bonus. A spectacular one.

The weather was perfect. Sunny and warm, with not much wind.

I did wonder if Staffa would be worth all the travel (not to mention the fuel, ferry and boat costs) but it was. Easily.

I walked around Iona a bit more after the boat got us back. Being such a small island, I know it inside out now.

I did have to stop at one stage as a local shepherd rounded up his flock of sheep to move them from one field to another across the road. Fascinating to watch one man and 2 dogs working together.

Further on a bloke almost fell off his cycle when his phone rang. Said he hadn’t had a signal for 3 days. Maybe the wind has changed direction.

Extra is one of the Staffa puffins. They like humans - we keep the gulls away.
