Mitten season

Doing some cleaning and organizing this afternoon, I came across this pair of mittens. My mother made them for my middle daughter when she was probably about 11 years old. She is now 46, so I am figuring that makes these mittens almost an heirloom (Don't tell my daughter I said that though). After our daughters outgrew the mittens, they were passed down and used by my grandchildren. When my mother made these mittens, she made three pairs, one pair for each of my daughters. When they grew larger, she made them larger mittens. My mother passed away many years ago, and at this point, only my youngest granddaughter could still fit into the mittens, but I'm keeping them. I think you probably understand why.
