Life's Little Moments

Take that, Attila the Hummie!

There are now several adult male hummers in the garden, much to P-Hummie's consternation.  He is now having to divide his time between trying ton convince one of the females into a second brood (rare, but happens sometimes) and fending off rival males, such as Attila.  Poor P - his work is never done, it seems.  If you look closely, you'll see that he has resorted to sticking his tongue out at his rivals (well, not really, he'd just had some nectar which was, apparently, lip-smackin' good.)

An early blip, as promised, as I am soon going to be on my way into NYC to celebrate Kura's birthday.  There will be lots of laughs, some great food and probably a little too much wine...what better way to spend a Sunday evening?

I checked on the bluebirds and all is looking well.  They are starting to get just the faintest bit of fuzz, which you can sort of see in this shot - an iphone quickie.  In other baby news, the katydid nymphs are slowly growing, and managing to stay well hidden in the day lillies.  They are a favorite food of several of the solitary wasps that nest in our garden.  And P's rival, Attila the Hummie gave me a little show over tea this morning.

Cheers, people.
