Lakeside view ....El scorchio!!

We went to bed earlier than normal last night, I did everything I could to try and ensure a decent nights sleep. A cool shower, an extra fan, besides the ceiling fan, the quilt folded right back, all windows open at the back of the house, a flat pillow.....I still tossed and turned for an hour, but after that got off and didn't wake until 4.30. Went back to sleep and woke periodically, but, overall not too bad!

We decided yesterday that if the weather was as forecast, we would go to Southport for the day. It was, so we did :-)

Hub did some watering whilst I got some bits and bobs together and put them in the car then off we went. It was already 27 degrees so plenty of sun cream and our hats.

We parked in our usual spot and walked to,the end of the pier, had a coffee, walked back, then along to where the cars drive down the ramp to park on the beach. We called in the supermarket, bought our lunch then walked back to the boating lake, found a bench, and enjoyed a half hours sit down whilst we had lunch.

We then continued around the lake, back onto the coastal road, turned right and walked back up the other side, where we stumbled on a lovely little pub, which professed to be the "smallest pub in Britain". It was rather quaint and had a vast array of beers and lagers. We took our lager shandys' out onto the little decking area, which had a great view back up the lake, as you can see from this shot. The old paddle boat moored up looked rather splendid with its hanging baskets as well!

We walked back to the pier, and stumbled across a photo shoot of rather a lot of young ladies all dressed in gold metallic cat suits......turned out to be the contestants for the Miss England title. I did take a few shots....if only I could load extras from my iPad I could show you ;-)

Once last walk up and down the pier and an icecream before going back to the car, which was like a sauna.......the temperature reading was 33.5 degrees.....phew!!!!! Think we've walked a few miles today ;-)

Back home now, still very warm, windows wide open, watering done, just thinking about dinner.....it will be something quick, easy and light tonight :-)

Sleeping will be a challenge tonight I think ;-)
