Boobook

That is the name of this little Australian owl sitting on the bench right next to Chris.

They had a bird of prey display at 11.30 at Thorp Perrow Arboretum where we spent this morning. After breakfast our inn keeper host asked if we planned to visit. We said we had but we're going to walk along to take a look at Snape Castle first. He said he had an arrangement with the owners that guest of the inn could walk along the carriage track to a back entrance of the park and he could also provide us with a discount card which made entry even cheaper than the concession rate. As we were going anyway this is what we did.
It was a bit grey and damp but it was lovely and peaceful.
Walking along the carriage track takes you along an avenue of planted Lime trees and there are views of the back of the castle along the way.

We visited the meerkats before watching the display. I was surprised how small they were. They have an island mound where they throw food down for them and as in the wild one stands on watch whilst the others eat. Extra

After the Boobook there was a white barn owl but it started to rain so the display was abandoned but it was still informative and entertaining.

Walking back it became very muggy with the sun coming through. It was quite bright for a while but no, as we get ready for the wedding it's looking a bit mixed again. Fingers crossed.

We had an excellent meal here last night, we have certainly enjoyed our short stay in this area.
