Bloomin' Loverley

Lavender.

To day we have headed to N Yorkshire for a wedding we are to attend tomorrow. We came via the Howardian Hills and the lovely village of Terrington to visit Yorkshire Lavendar. Thank you Kiteseeker for blipping this earlier in the week and giving me the idea.

It was a bit grey and drizzly at times but the scent of the lavender when we arrived was amazing and nothing detracted from the beautiful displays. We had a very pleasant home made sandwich and said for lunch when we arrived and will definitely need to come back to try all the sweet goodies many of which contain lavender ( I love lavender shortbread)

We travelled onwards though some delightful villages in Ryedale and are now in the very pretty village of Snape at the Castle Arms Inn. We did a recce of the wedding venue in Bedale so we know where we are going and are no ready to go in to dinner in this lovely Inn run by someone who used to live in Eldwick, just a few miles from us at home.

Still in Yorkshire but very different from our Pennine scenery, so often an area we just pass through it is nice to be able to stop and enjoy somehwere different.
In the extra you can see the view down onto the Wolds with Sheriff Hutton Castle in the centre. An extensive view apparently in clearer weather taking in York Minster and the 3 power stations at Eggborough, Drax and Ferrybridge.
