Far From the Madding Crowd

Not so far from the madding crowd on Playfair steps at the Mound, but a seemingly perfect oasis of green tranquility as His Lordship and I walked into the city centre to forage for food.
It never fails to gladden the heart to see this kind of green space right in the centre of a Capital city next to the main railway station.

A few yards further on and we stopped for coffee at an outside table beside the café of the Scottish Gallery and people watched in the sunshine. The gardens beneath us which hosted the Christmas and Hogmanay outside area for various grass unfriendly pursuits has been lovingly returfed allowing people to use them for the more leisurely pursuit of lying in the sun.

Unfortunately this pursuit would be short lived as the clouds rolled in and rain threatened- there never seems to be a day of complete sunshine this summer.
