A Different View

When we were in Orkney in June, I fell in love with this naive painting of the Stromness waterfront houses by the painter Mirren Hall, who has autism and as a double whammy, is profoundly deaf.
Just where to hang it on our crowded walls is proving more of a challenge than that of arranging to get it home. Fortunately daughter#2 was up in Orkney with a car after us and brought it back with her at the weekend.

I had a good get together with a cycling friend in the Temple of Toast this morning. It is always cathartic to meet up and have a blether about life in general and in particular the good old cycling days with friends, some of whom have unfortunately left before their time for the great cycling arena in the sky.

The weather has not let us down again today- grey skies, breezy and more rain. I think I read somewhere a warning that high temperatures in Europe are on their way here. Hopefully Scotland is in line and not just the south of England. I wait with baited breath and sunscreen lotion at the ready.

the extra image includes two of Mirren Hall's cards which illustrate the quirky way in which she sees the world
