Standing Stones

TT was up and out for a run, whilst BB and I had a long lie.  It’s so nice to be on holiday again. After much pottering around we three headed to Lochranza with plans for a walk.  We bought some sandwiches and set off round the coastal path. It was a greyish day, but quite clear.  We stopped at a pebble beach and had our delicious sandwiches, and were driven mad by midges.  BB and TT explored some rock pools before we continued our walk.  We didn’t go as far as I thought we were going as TT had had enough of the midges!  Instead we climbed up the hill and walked back round to Lochranza.  We then headed round the coast and went in search of the stone circles on Machrie Moor, something we have never done in all the years we have been coming over to Arran.

We were all really impressed by the stone circles and the standing stones themselves.  It was quite atmospheric out on the moor as the clouds descended onto the nearby hilltops.

Back at the holiday cottage, we met up with our friends and caught up over a lovely meal and a few drinks.

Here are the standing stones on Machrie Moor
