An Accident Of Birth

I went into town this afternoon to post a letter. The post box was painted gold in the heady days of the 2012 London Olympics in honour of golden girl Laura Trott. I was delighted and went to photograph it then.

Laura wasn't impressed.  Though she was born in Harlow she said that her home town is Cheshunt. She's not the first person I know to deny their Harlow roots. :) Royal Mail said that they would paint a box in Cheshunt too. Don't know whether they did.

Whatever, the record-breaking golden-braided Olympian is local and we're proud. There's talk of painting the fountain in Cheshunt Pond gold.
