Feeding Time!!

Wimpole Home Farm

Headed south this morning for a visit to the National Trust's Wimpole Estate, near Cambridge. Wimpole is still very much a working estate and our first port of call was Home Farm where it was feeding time at the piggery, the noise was deafening! This not-so-little piggy was very eager for her lunch!!

After a stroll around the walled gardens (extra No1) and the extensive grounds, it was time for a spot of lunch in the sunshine before a quick tour of the impressive mansion, donated to the National Trust by Elsie Bambridge's, the daughter of Rudyard Kipling (extra No2).

Despite the weather forecast for torrential thundery downpours, the afternoon stayed dry, so on the way home we stopped off at Grantchester for a wander along the river (extra No3), and a cuppa at the famous Orchard, a tea garden that since opening in 1897, has been a popular retreat for Cambridge students, teachers and tourists, with many famous names among its patrons, including the poet Rupert Brooke.

And now it's feeding time for me! I'm almost as hungry as this not-so-little piggy!!
