Crack of dawn start with friend Steffi coming over to ride out with Angie - a first, although Steffi has ridden before but not for a while. Early start firstly because Steffi had to get her teenage daughter ready for a 7:00am start with friends for the car journey for a holiday in Croatia and also because the weather has been so hot and still being enjoyed by the flies - the worst horse flies are now gone since the cereal crops have been harvested.

Yesterday evening when Luna was out for the ride, she appeared to have a fit and reacted very strangely. So Angie would not allow her to set out on the ride and at best perhaps join them for the last half hour. So I took a very angry Luna and Flash for a walk by the lakes and spotted MrB and a group, doing dog hunt training - German short haired pointers who also are known for retrieving water fowl. I'm not sure who was doing what and whose dog was being used - it didn't look like his Donna and MrB seemed to be taking a watch and learn stance. See Extra Photo - MrB is the capped onlooker on the right.

Messaged Angie that Luna seemed fine and we agreed a meeting point. As I unloaded her, I mentioned to the girls that perhaps Luna had contracted Lyme's disease from a tick and both nodded that it was a possibility. Then they set off homeward with a happy Luna. The photo it later turned out shows Steffi removing a tick from Angie's top!!!! The wretched things don't like really hot weather and also go pretty much inactive under 10°C. Think that puts paid to early morning rides.

Back home Steffi clipped Flash's claws as they were very long due to his not being as active as he once was. Has been causing him problems on wood and tiled floors.

Then we set about the best part of the day - Breakfast. We only ever indulge when the children are here, so a great treat. Steffi had brought wonderfully varied fresh rolls from a bakery in Memmingen.

Sadly I had to then do some work, mowing a horse field and then set about cutting up the remaining trees with the chainsaw. Had to get it done before the Sunday silence laws kick in. I will split them tomorrow as nobody  can see me working on a day of rest and the electric motor is not loud enough to be heard in the village.

Will watch Luna and probably get a blood test done although there has been no repeat of yesterdays event.
