Imperfections

This is one of the two bowls I bought at the Poterie Not yesterday. I adore the green glaze and the little curled handles. It can't be used in the oven, but it makes a lovely salad or fruit bowl. It's a grésale, traditionally used as a mixing bowl.

Yesterday evening, visiting German friend A invited a few of us for dinner at the gite where she's staying, owned by another German friend. It's my absolute favourite house in the village, the one I would most like to live in. From the roof terrace you get views over the village on one side and to Alaric on the other. If it's too hot to be up there, on the first floor there's a little balcony shaded by a hundred-year old vine, overlooking the leafy courtyard. We were on the roof eating, drinking and chatting till well after midnight.  Given the weather, it's hard to believe summer is over. It was a farewell to Ingrid, who is going home today after two months here. We agreed that it's been a lovely summer; lots going on, amazing weather, and many opportunities to mingle with old friends and meet new ones.
