Above And Beyond...

Flying Free

The blip photo is a tribute to my good neighbour, Lynton Jones. He died in the early hours of today, aged 53, leaving behind wife Wendy and two teenage children.

This morning we set off to Raglan Castle to do a circular walk in the lovely sunny weather. Afterwards, we sauntered around the castle and I bought a large cold bottle of Fiery Ginger Beer for us to enjoy on the castle lawn. We picked wild blackberries to make jam, laughed and enjoyed the day.

On getting home about 5pm, we realised something was amiss when there were a lot of cars and visits to Lynton's. Shortly afterwards, Mrs BB went across and it was then we found out that Lynton had died. We knew he was very ill with cancer, but was only about 11 days ago that I was with him, chatting. It is hard to believe he's gone. Our elderly neighbour died a couple of months ago. Both moved into their houses about the same time as us, nearly 20 years ago. They were lovely neighbours and we always stopped and chatted whenever we saw each other.

We're in shock. It's so hard to believe. I hope he's flying free, free from pain; I'm sure he's in a better place.

It takes me back to my brother who died when he was 38. Life can be so cruel sometimes. It really does put everything into perspective. You've got one life on this Earth - get out and live everyday like it could be your last.
