Pankow - Abandoned Railyard

Today we went with the S-Bahn to Pankow to visit an abandoned rail yard site.
This former rail freight terminal was handling 1800 freight cars per day! It was taken out of use in 1997 and is since in decay.
It is an impressive site with loads of buildings and two turntables for locomotives.
We spend a few hours there and met photographers shooting, kids playing and a couple of other visitors.
The weather was awesome if not too hot.
After this exploration we went into Pankow to find a much needed cafe to sit down and relax for a moment. We had been on our feet for hours in the heat.
We then had to make our way home to meet our friend Andi for dinner.
He was already at the door when we arrived.
We had a lovely dinner, a bit too much to drink and an enjoyable evening.

I have not managed to get through all pictures and do much editing.
Todays Blip is the inside of the impressive Roundhouse, where they were able to turn locomotive engines without reversing.
It is a listed building and we heard that there are plans to restore it in the near future.
The extra is the inside of one of the other buildings.
