As I took this a chap approached me.

"I'm not sure about it, I'm not sure. She was born just up there, along the Main Street and turn right up to the chip shop".

I am told she lived on the island of Capri in her later years. A long way from her roots in Rochdale. But the town is very proud of her - this statue was unveiled a couple of weeks ago by Roy Hudd and other luminaries.

It has been a very long day, I have some catching up to do.
