West Coast river

This morning began with an early morning drive out to Swanson to collect C, Mr H and Young L. And their luggage. Then back to the apartment, managing to avoid the worst of the commuter traffic by staying off the motorway. All ready for a 0900 am pick up by a taxi van to take us to the airport for the flight to Queenstown. S and I are having our first holiday away, of any length (eight days) in a long time. I am more than ready for it.

This photo was taken from the window of the plane as we crossed the coast of the South Island shortly before the descent into Queenstown. Magnificent mountains, rivers and even a glacier. The latter was not recognised until too late to use the camera.

We have had a quiet afternoon, which began with a late lunch of fish and chips in the sun, looking at Lake Wakatipu. Then the boys had a play, and I was able to find a coffee press (plunger), and with some coffee we were set for the afternoon.

This evening is the first night of the Night Noodle Markets. We enjoyed some Asian type food, and I tried for a photo or more of the crowd and the lanterns.
