Fire!

It doesn't seem that long ago since we last had a fire on campus. It was actually two and a half years ago. Today's incident happened in a very similar way to last time. The main difference was that there were two separate alarms and this time I had all that I needed on me in case we were not allowed back in the building (which turned out to be the case).

If that wasn't enough excitement for one day, I was delighted to see the PhD students now back from Croatia with many a tale to tell (one of which involves setting a conference bag alight!), I finished designing my poster for a conference in Copenhagen next month, and I enjoyed a lovely lunch with colleagues to celebrate (another) retirement.

Then, to top it all, news came through that I have won an external prize that will be awarded to me at a ceremony in London on 19th October :-)

Tomorrow's going to be a very long day, not least because I have to go into work super-early to finish off the prep for my morning classes because I didn't manage to get this finished before we were evicted today. There will be no time for morning exercises or walking to work. I will probably have to be on campus by 07:00am to get everything organised in time!

Exercise today: sit-ups, weights and stretches, walk to work and back again (17,360 steps).
