Torchlight

11aug Saturdayblip

What a day.

Builders were round at just gone 8am, and there was me thinking (ha) that I'd still be in bed. No such luck! But at least I wasn't weaving all over the place this morning from exhaustion. So, where there was a dowstairs toilet when we bought the house, with an attempt at a window (a hole in the wall, basically), has finally after three years had the bricking up finished, and rendered over. And where the back door used to be before the previous owners thought they'd move it, has finally been rendered over the breezeblocks.

Huge psychological improvement!! Amazing what a bit of render can do.

So that was a highlight.

A lowlight was the toilet. The cistern wasn't filling so Steve took it apart and fixed one bit of it then spent the rest of the afternoon fixing another bit of it, instead of continuing sorting out the office. He was frustrated. But it all works properly again now!

After dinner we lit a fire in the firepit. Steve got to burn things, Ben got to play outside, Charley got to explore a bit. And when it got dark and Charley had curled up on me and gone to sleep, Steve and Ben snuggled up on the swingseat to read stories by torchlight.

And somewhere among the day's activity I sorted out some of the kitchen shelves. Tomorrow the kitchen table gets attacked.

'Night :)
