Corporations are NOT people too...

Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company
Decided May 10, 1886

The defendant Corporations are persons within the intent of the clause in section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United

AMERICAN TRADITION PARTNERSHIP, INC., FKA WESTERN TRADITION PARTNERSHIP, INC., ET AL. v. STEVE BULLOCK, ATTORNEY
GENERAL OF MONTANA...

A Montana state law provides that a “corporation may
not make . . . an expenditure in connection with a candidate
or a political committee that supports or opposes a
candidate or a political party.” Mont. Code Ann. §13–
35–227(1) (2011). The Montana Supreme Court rejected
petitioners’ claim that this statute violates the First
Amendment. 2011 MT 328, 363 Mont. 220, 271 P. 3d 1.
In Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, this
Court struck down a similar federal law, holding that
“political speech does not lose First Amendment protection
simply because its source is a corporation.”

Back in the 19th and early 20th century before worker protection and environmental laws it was common in the state of Montana for corporations to buy off elections and in return get favors for their business at the expense of the general public. In 1912 the Corrupt Practices Act was passed in Montana to rule out corporate contributions to candidates, as well as corporate independent spending to expressly support or oppose a candidate or political party.. When this law was in full force the clean up began.. Fairness in politics..

I mention these two cases because until we reverse the 1886 decision elections in the United States will continue to go to the highest bidder, smears the best, confuses the public, and...   This election the Supreme Court can go either way.. What do you want for the next generations?

What does this have to do with this photo?  Everything.. The business is a local legend.. Great food and better yet great friendly customer service. This one business will never likely buy off an election, proudly displays their opinion, they don't care what you think - you don't have to eat there, and attracts tourist out of just curiosity for miles around..

This business also pays taxes to my home state, to the county and to the city that pay for roads, schools, police, and... This business like many others around here is run by your neighbor, the family down the street and.. This business I would proudly support despite me disagreeing with their politics...

Or support a major chain restaurant where it may or may not be locally owned but still pays licensing fees to a corporation that uses every legal loophole (we need to close those too) to not pay taxes that support are Military, our National Parks, our Highways, our...

All I am asking is to just think....
