An ordinary life....

Little Urn...

Backblip

Up early and the four of us headed off to Gloagburn for breakfast.  What a luxury.

It was also a bit of a novelty for me, as for the first time in years I didn't have to rush back to give Alan lunch.  His nose is still blocked making eating difficult so he's choosing to have all his calories via his gastrostomy peg and his support workers can give him that.

Gloagburn's pop up Christmas shop was open but I was very good and resisted going in.  Instead Ele and I were drawn to an attractive young lady from Eden Mill Gin, who was dishing out samples of gin cocktails in 4 different flavours.  Of course we had to try all four.   We both agreed we liked the citrus one and the fruit berry one the best and bought two of each.  A wee treat for the end of the day after all the kitchen emptying.

On the way back home David stopped at the tile supplier and collected the sample of the mediterranean mosaic pool tile.  When we got back to the house the four of us went out to the pool room with all the pool samples and after much discussion and holding tiles in different positions to catch the light, we all agreed that the original ocean blue tile was actually the best.  Phew!  I am SO happy I don't have to tell the builder I'd changed my mind.

After that important decision making we got stuck into the kitchen, the most strenuous thing being emptying the larder cupboard (Ele did that.  she's a grafter that girl! :-) whilst I checked dates on stuff and decided what was being kept and what was getting binned.

David and Kenny moved the spare washing machine, put stuff in the loft  and emptied and moved the freezer from the utility room out to the garage (I am ashamed to say that everything in that freezer, apart from some recently made cookies, was binned.  What a waste!)

Just as we were finishing, got a text from nephew Andrew and his girlfriend Nikki to say they were popping up.   Perfect timing.  Work all done :-))

Final cooked dinner in the old kitchen - steak pie, mash, carrots and cauliflower cheese.

Andrew and Nikki left, David and Kenny went to bed and Ele and I stayed up a bit longer chatting.  Well we had gin cocktails to finish ;-))
