Beginning the Christmas shopping

Escaped Cumbria just in time it seems. We left Penrith at 2.00pm to travel to Shropshire seeing snow on the higher ground but rain on the motorway. As we travelled south the weather improved but the reports from J36-39 suggested snow was settling on the carriageway.

We enjoyed a scone and coffee at Cranston's in Penrith as a reward for braving the elements along Ullswater walking between Pooley Bridge towards Howtown in the cold rain. Snook a look at Sharron Bay Hotel which we thought was not a patch on Inn on the Lake.

Spent a little time and a lot of money buying Cumbria preserves and goodies in Cranston's, making a start on four Christmas hampers which will be presents for Susan's family.

Apologies for late posting and lack of comment, our Shropshire base has no mobile signal or wifi!
