While it was Sunny

(... or the day the Velux skylight was re glazed in almost no time at all)

10.2C mixed day of cloud and sunny spells. A few showers. Moderate WNW/W/NW/NNW breeze.

Just as Apothecary7 left the house to walk along to work this morning the phone rang. It was the Velux technician. He had parked across the road and wanted to know if he could bring his van under the building and park at the back. Apothecary7 had come back upstairs to tell me she had seen the van. We went down together and I showed him the best spot for parking then he came up to have a look at the position of the window and see what he might need from the van.

He went down to the van and came back with a very handy telescopic ladder, propped the ladder between the middle of the stairs and just below the window (he had covered the top of the ladder with a jacket to protect the wall) and up he went. It is always amazing to watch someone who really knows what they are doing. In seconds he had flipped the window, did something in two places with a screwdriver and the double glazed window popped out. He brought it down and went back down to the van to re glaze it saying it would take less than half an hour. Sure enough he came back in less than half an hour with the window, all shiny and polished with a new tempered pane in place. He went back up the ladder and the window was reassembled in no time at all. It seemed he was hardly here at all. There were one or two showers before lunch, so I know it is weather tight.

He had come all the way from Livingston. Left home around 5am !

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for the repeat of our usual morning walking route across the road and round to the park and the harbour and back along through town. Faith Hill (Breathe) on the Clip. The harbour was very quiet today with all the fishing boats out at sea. No ships at the new quay. When we got to the harbour I decided we would walk out to the end of the park so we had a wander along. I spotted a big male seal on the way, not far from the edge of the loch. There were lots of Eider ducks in the harbour, and lots of Oystercatchers on the green by the War Memorial. Photo from the marina side of the harbour today for a change.

Once Maeve was back home and settled I went for another walk. Martina McBride (The Way That I Am) on the Clip. I went out Low Askomill to the old shipyard. On the way back I walked round the esplanade, had a wander round the harbour, and came back home through town.

Afternoon music ... Alison Krauss, Forget About It. Trisha Yearwood, Songbook.
