A Clattering Of Jackdaws

I saw a post on Twitter this morning from Valley Grown Salads about their new glasshouses and decided to walk up to the viewpoint at Holyfield Farm to get a shot as I have glass/horticulture in my blood. What a fantastic sight - a sea of glass. It harks back to the heyday of the Lea Valley glasshouse industry. Wonderful to have a huge unit like this producing home-grown salads.

It was lovely on top of the hill, with The Gherkin and The Shard on the skyline, looking down on skeins of geese going to roost. The flock of jackdaws that is always around the Holyfield Farm buildings was getting very vocal and restless. It wasn't long before they too clattered off to their roosting site.
