Ancient Standing Stones?

This pile of ancient boulders mysteriously appeared on a patch of grass opposite our house a few weeks ago along with a large patch of scorched grass.

Have we been visited by aliens in a rocket ship, leaving behind some message from the Gods? (Anyone remember those crazy books by Erich Von Daniken?)

Well, no - our 'Bramham In Bloom' team have been hard at work creating a new rockery planting area, hoping to impress the Britain In Bloom judges again this year and gain yet another Gold Award.

The scorched grass was to kill of any weeds, two lorry loads of topsoil (the first lorry got bogged down in the grass and had to be pulled out with a tractor) and a large supply of boulders which are being moved into position.

A day with family today - to celebrate MIL's birthday - we had a nice lunch at Walworth Castle Hotel and then dessert at Archers dairy ice cream parlour nearby. Our daughter and family dove up to join us and they collected their dogs on the way home.
