Birds of a Feather

Today we dragged ourselves away from our chalet in Shaldon as we have friends staying there from tomorrow.

As we often do, we broke our journey in Clevedon, or second favourite place in the South West. The river (sea as Ann calls it) is not the same colour of the sea off Devon, but it is a very interesting place with a very elegant Victorian pier. Clevedon is one of those resorts that give the impression that it could do very well without summer visitors, and is designed for the residents. That's why we like it.

There is a walk from the promenade that follows the coastline called Poets Walk, so called as it is said to have inspired Tennyson and Coleridge. We took that walk today, getting back to Clevedon just as it was starting to rain. The walk passes the ancient church of St Andrews with its large graveyard. The views from the cliff top walk are stunning.

Today's photo was taken on that walk, more good luck than patient skill. I just noticed a flurry of birds and swept the camera up for a quick shot. I was pleased with the result.
