Christmas lunch

We woke up to another foggy morning today - actually I woke up earlier when I heard Luke coming in at 4am from a 21st birthday party he had been to last night - I forget what it is like to have the stamina to party till that hour!

We are going to Switzerland on Wednesday where we will be spending Christmas and New Year - not sure if it will be a white Christmas as after all the snow they had in late October and November it is now very sunny with no snow in the village. We therefore decided to have our Christmas lunch today, and although I am taking certain foods with us you cannot get things like parsnips, pigs in blankets, turkey and custard for the trifle in the village supermarket, so consequently we like to have our traditional Christmas dinner at home and then an adapted version when we are out there. Today it was a roast leg of lamb and all the trimmings (I am taking turkey to have out there, so did not have that today) and then we opened our Christmas presents - no point taking them all the way there and back again - although I do have some small, light, easy-to-pack presents for everyone to open on Christmas day.

Adam then left in a mad dash to get the train to Exeter where he is staying with his girlfriend and her family for a few days (as it is her birthday on Thursday) and he will join us later, on Friday.

A lovely day and everyone is very pleased with Santa's early delivery!
