Life in Sunny Dubai

London

It is nearly midnight on Day 3 of my holiday and today has been the first time I've been able to switch on my laptop since Saturday!! [That means I have some blips to catch up with, and journals to visit!]

So... this morning, I woke quite early after crashing out last night. Can't remember going to bed that early for years. The hotel we're in is fantastic - one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in!

G & I stopped for a quick bite on our way to meet up with friends J&P. Fortunately the day was dry and bright. Perfect to be outdoors. We made it into London and headed straight to the restaurant we were going to meet our London friends for lunch at Harlequin near Covent Garden. I am always amazed at how long it takes to get to where you want in this country, particularly when travelling on public transport.

Anyway, we walked most of the way, then realised it would take too long for the last leg, having never been before, so we jumped into a taxi! Very smart restaurant on Great Queens street and hours vanished quickly; in fact, we had just enough time to eat two courses and get to the Aldwych Theatre to watch Beautiful. Made it to our seats just in time! We got an upgrade too. What a great show and superb music. The stage was something else. Loved everything about it.

Stopped at Covent Garden (see extra) and enjoyed listening to the live musicians whilst sipping some mulled wine; then had to say goodbye to friends rachelwhynot and co who were going on to Kew Gardens. We jumped on a bus to see Christmas lights...

So glad we did that! Oxford Street was busy and looked as great as ever. Thrilled to be on Regent Street and see the flying angel lights for myself. I've been admiring other blipper's pictures of them. To be in the front seats of a double decker bus made it all the more special.

Time was getting on though and it was time to head back to Guildford... a very full, tiring, yet magical day. And it wasn't too cold either. :D
