A time for everything

Watchful eye!

Saturday
After a late night last night, we were a little late getting going this morning. It was a bright, sunny but cold morning, but knowing it was supposed to cloud over by the afternoon and rain was also forecast for the afternoon, we got out for our walk in the morning. Since it was icy first thing, we decided to play it safe and go for a flat walk along the Canal du Loing, starting from Épisy and heading towards Moncourt Fromonville. We came across a pair of swans on the banks of the canal, and as we approached them, I felt sure they would fly off or take to the water, but much to my surprise, they stayed put, one of them pecking at the surrounding grass, while this one remained lying down, watching us with his beady eye. Sure enough, while we started our walk in sunshine, by the time we returned to the car almost two hours later, the clouds had moved in and it was beginning to rain, which then turned to snow as we drove home - though it didn't last long. After a late lunch, we both got on with jobs related to our upcoming return to the States, before going out to eat in the evening in Barbizon with one of Roger's colleagues.
