a lifetime burning

Parked, or perched?

As we were wandering around the Jordaan district this morning we came across this Heron, perched on a parking sign.  He didn't seem too worried by me and I was able to get quite close to him for this shot, which was just as well as the only lens I was carrying had a maximum zoom of 70mm.

Sadly today has been our final full day in Amsterdam for this trip.  The weather has not been quite so good for photography today, being overcast with a thick grey blanket of cloud, and sadly no mistiness to render it interesting.  Still there has been plenty to see and do.

We visited the Anne Frank house for part of the day, which left us both suitably moved. Later on, after we had recovered a bit, we popped into Rembrandt's house which was a considerably more upbeat affair.

Only one extra today, a shot of some of the "drunken" canal frontage houses as they lean against each other.
